Methoxyethanoic anhydride - Introduction
Methoxyacetic anhydride is a colorless liquid with a chemical formula of CH3OCOCH2COOCH3 and a molecular weight of 118.11. It is soluble in a variety of organic solvents at room temperature, such as ethanol, ether and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Methoxyacetic anhydride are used as esterification and acylation reagents in organic synthesis. It can be used to synthesize various ester compounds, such as drugs, fragrances and coatings. In addition, Methoxyacetic anhydride can also be used as raw materials for solvents and surfactants.
One method for preparing Methoxyacetic anhydride is to obtain methyl methoxyacetate by the reaction of acetic anhydride and methanol, and then convert it into Methoxyacetic anhydride through catalytic oxidation reaction.
